What kind of PDF does FoldProof accept?+
FoldProof opens an existing local PDF with at least one readable page. It audits each crop-box size and scales pages independently into the selected folded trim without editing the source.
Which booklet formats are included?+
The first release creates saddle-stitched booklets on US Letter or A4 sheets, with left- or right-edge binding and short-edge or compensated long-edge duplex presets.
What if the PDF page count is not divisible by four?+
FoldProof pads the plan to the next four-page boundary. Every inserted blank remains visible in the sheet list, fold preview, PDF proof, Markdown and JSON.
How does creep work?+
Creep is off by default. In the common cover-fixed workflow, the outer sheet stays at zero while a maximum per-page push-in grows toward the innermost sheet. Left panels move right and right panels move left, toward the center fold; the value is hard-capped at 18 points.
Does FoldProof change or overwrite my PDF?+
No. It hashes and reads the selected source, writes every result into a new timestamped folder and verifies the source hash again after export. If the source changes, export stops.
What is included in the proof package?+
You receive a new imposed PDF, a visual proof-sheet PDF, Markdown and JSON page-order proofs, plus a manifest containing SHA-256 checksums for every generated file.
Can FoldProof guarantee my printer duplex setting?+
No desktop app can control every driver and finishing path. FoldProof records its exact compensation and tells you to print and fold one physical copy before a production run. The planned price is US$24 one time; checkout stays closed until signing and notarization are complete.
